Have You "Seen It all"?

I get a kick out of the Farmer's Insurance commercials. Their signature catch phrase we've seen it all always makes me smile.

I can't say I've seen it all - but I've seen a LOT. I've seen an almost un-countable number of fads come and go. I've seen claims ranging from get rich quick real estate schemes that tell you - you can earn more in your FIRST MONTH than you've made in your lifetime to Amazon store hucksters promising riches. I can't remember all the crazy crappy marketing pitches I've listened to over the past 30 years.

I don't like saying we're in changing time. Yes - I acknowledge that the emergence of Covid has indeed spurred rapid change. But our economy and business landscape is always changing - and usually pretty fast. The difference is - most people are paying attention enough to notice it.
​
Prior to Covid - and you might find this hard to believe but I promise it's true - it wasn't an uncommon occurrence for one of my team members to tell me we were losing a client - and the reason...wait for it....because we were GENERATING TOO MANY LEADS.

I have to tell you - when I would hear that it would just about make my head explode! It's just wrong headed and let me know that person (sorry if it was you) has no idea what they are doing. I've tried to think about why someone would say that...I really have. I've tried to figure it out because I wanted to figure out a way to help and keep that client. I hate client attrition and will do anything to prevent it.
Here's what I came up with:
1) They are struggling with deliverables

2) They are short on staffing
​
OR
​
3) It could be they are on vacation
​
....actually - I don't really care what the reason is. If prospects are interested in doing business with you - figure it out. IF you can't figure it out - talk to somebody who can help you devise a solution to whatever issue you're having. But NEVER NEVER EVER turn off the faucet when leads and prospects are pouring out of it. That's your sales pipeline - which should really referred to as your LIFELINE because for your business - that's exactly what it is!
